Just Wondering 
Does anyone know whether guinea pigs and rats can be together in the same room (not in the same cage) when let out for playtime? Or will they antagonize each other?

It depends on the personality of the guinea pig and the rat. They could ignore each other, like each other, or antagonize each other. You could introduce them slowly and carefully to see what happens. They will most likely ignore each other though. I introduced my rats to a litter of kittens. They kittens like to play with and bite the rat’s tails but other than that they get along great.
