Not to sound condescending, but if you’re a breeder, I’d think you would know that answer. If you’re just doing it for fun, or food, then maybe not.

Other varieties of mice can have pink eyes, not just albino. Just means the mouse has the PEW (pink eyed white) gene. You can look up punnett squares for mouse genetics on the Internet. I know they helped me out BIG TIME. Click here to go to a link about mouse coat and eye color. It looks boring and wordy at first, but there’s some pictures in there that might help you out.

But basically, if one (or both) of the parents had some agouti in their lineage, you have the possibility of having a "tan" baby. (I believe).

im barely starting out with breeding mice. some for food for my snakes, some for pets and some for entertainment.

i dont know hardly anything about breeding mice or color patterns. im just doing it to save some money on feeding my snakes.

like i said im new to this. got 3 litters in like 3 months.

we get this all the time at the store where i work we get guinea pigs like that too and everyone thinks they are albino too

you know though frozen/thawed foods are much safer for your snakes

mice dont bite, rats do. heard it from pro reptile breeders. i dont like the frozen thawed because its not natural. it bothers me to feed frozen thawed to an animal that would kill it naturally. its not right in my opinion. eventually i might go to frozen thawed but thats going to be a long time before i get to that point

i dont see how any animal in fear wont bite what is attacking it

but there are other reasons why frozen/thawed is safer than feeding live

also nothing about their life is natural in captivity. they are kept in a glass box with constant temps from an unnatural source

to me it just seems safer, cheeper and less time consuming to feed frozen/thawed.

oh well

mice are not as smart as rats are. mice are too dumb to know to bite whats trying to kill it. rats o nthe other hand. you hear more about injuries from rats than you do from mice. it may be cheaper but since when did snake eat dead things in the wild? maybe if its a last resort but still, it rarely happens.

You hear more about injuries from rats than mice because rats are larger and have more powerful jaws. Mice do in fact bite. I was feeding live mice to a ball python I was having problems converting to f/t. He grabbed the mouse’s head and constricted. The mouse bit a hole in his bottom jaw while it was being killed. You can go ahead and take your chances, but your belief and what you were told about mice not biting is wrong.

Ok, I’m coming to the defense of rats everywhere. I have 2 rats (now one ) and my babies have NEVER bitten me and it’s been 3 years. The key is to play with them. Actually, my rat licks my fingers every time I stick them in the cage. And in case you say it’s just because they’re people pleasers or something, my rat hates to cuddle. So. Oh, and I’m gonna breed mice too. But just so you know, rats usually DON’T bite.
