Ball with problems shedding eye caps I have a 8 mo old ball python who recently shed in one piece except her eye caps. I am very concerned as this can lead to blindness but I am unsure of how to remove them. Can someone please help?

Ball with problems shedding eye caps My daughters ball did the same thing. I put some mineral oil on a q-tip and rubbed it on the retained shed (was on his eye and head) and it worked like a charm.

Ball with problems shedding eye caps If any of that doesn’t work, after you soak him, dry him out (don’t let him get dry, I mean dry the area so the tape sticks) put some tape around your finger the sticky side out and very gently tap the eye (do not press hard!) I did that with my copperhead - worked great.

Ball with problems shedding eye caps it is best to try the tape method first. tweezers can scratch or puncture the eye if not careful enough.

Ball with problems shedding eye caps My dad did taught me this trick .Put a tiny bit of vasilen(spelt that word wrong, sorry)on a Q-tip and gently go around the outside of the eye cap do not get it in the eye..You should be able to either push the eye cap off with the Q-tip now or peel it off with your finger nail.I’ve heard of the other trips.I get scared doing it with tweezers because I don’t want to get too close to the eye and scratch it.Hope this tip helped you.sorry if it didnt

Ball with problems shedding eye caps There is a spray available on the market called Repti Shedding Aid, I believe it is made by Zoo Med, if you get some of that spray, spray directly on the eye cap and with CLEAN hands gently rub the cap it should come off after a few tries, the shedding aid is also great for right before they shed to help them get a nice clean shed.

Ball with problems shedding eye caps you need to soak her in water so that the skin gets soft and it mi=ost likely will come off if you keep soaking her.
