 Freshly molted Redknee and friends

Hello, spider people! I’m usually on the corn snake forum, but I thought I’d share some pictures of my 8 legged friends. :)

This is my Redknee. (B. smithi) I’ve had him/her for 2 years now, and I’m really pleased with how his colors are coming in.

This is Velvet, my Striped knee. (A. seemanni) She’s my first tarantula, and I’ve had her for 10 years now. She’s a good girl. :)

This is Waffles, my Arkansas chocolate. (A. baergi) I rescued her from a stupid guy I went to school with 2 years ago.

Waffles Jr., (creative, I know) also an Arkansas chocolate. I’ve had her for about a year and a half now.

And these are the most recent pictures I have of my Cobalt blue. (H. lividum) He/she has holed up for a few weeks, and I suspect a molt is near at hand.

I’ve usually got a couple of Black widows around, too. Here are my 2:

And so they don’t feel left out:
Jack, my 3 1/2 foot creamsicle corn. I’ve had him for almost 3 years.

And Marvin, my 3 1/2 foot bloodred corn. I got him the same time as Jack.

Hope you like, and feel free to post pics of your critters as well!

Thanks, Rob! I’ll try to get some better pics of my cobalt once she starts coming out at night again.

And Taylor, yes. They don’t start off blue, but they end up that way as they mature. The males are usually less blue than females, though.

I’m very impressed, lovely looking B. smithi and that A. seemanni is probably the best Ive ever seen.
I have 2 A. seemanni but I was going to sell one as they’re both juveniles and don’t show any of the adult colours. There are 2 or 3 forms as far as I know, a lighter one plus a darker one (similar to yours) plus a blue form.
How do you keep it because its been suggested the less light and the more moist the environment the darker they will go.

thanks for sharing your pix.

Well, thank you for the nice compliments!

I’ve never heard about that before... She’s in a 16x10x6 1/2 critter keeper with a half log to hide in. She doesn’t get much light as she’s got another cage sitting over half of hers, and all of my T’s are on the bottom shelf of my 40 gallon tank stand. I’m planning on moving her into a 10 gallon soon so she’ll have more room to dig. She and my cobalt’s cages are misted about once or twice a day.

Does this theory go for all tarantulas, or A. seemannis in particular?

Just to prove your point about colouration on Lividums Here is a pic of my juvie he was about 2-2.5 inches at the time, he sold for around 60.00 which isnt bad, i only paid 25 for him when he was 1/2 inch.

$60? That’s quite a bit, isn’t it? Where are you buying and selling? My lividum was $20-25 and she was roughly the same size as the one in your picture.

I sell them either on kijiji or there are a few people i know who really like the slings I raise and are willing to pay top dollar for them, especially since there is no one in my area selling Ts because it is "illegal" Lol but the law literally states...
No one shall possess any invert with any toxins or venoms in their home/living area... or something like that it is ridiculous the person who made that law is an idiot, they dont even realize that house spiders have venom so technically anyone with spiders in their basement is subject to a fine... it is absolutely a joke the people in Durham Ontario Canada are absolutely uneducated and need to find new jobs working else where away from the ministry. the person in charge of the by laws in my city (population 120,000 roughly) is scared of large dogs... how insane is that, its like out of 120,000 people we cant maybe find someone who isnt scared of dogs, like really.

Sorry I get heated when it comes to the by laws here lol!

Rob

PS Dont even get me started on how scared they are of snakes...
