You mean Dysdera crocata?

I had one of these a few years back and it was a really cool spider. I don’t understand the difficulty you’re having with finding a spider and knowing how to care for it. It’s really very simple. Keep it in an escape proof container and feed it a small bug about once a week. Nothing with pincers or stingers or anything that could potentially injure/kill your spider. House flies and crickets work great.

Well, then feed him something else. I’ve never fed my spiders potato bugs before. I’ve never had a problem getting them to eat flies and crickets, though. It may also be that your spider isn’t hungry. Take the bug out and try again in a couple of days or so.

I used to catch flies with a silk screen type net. Now I always have crickets because I have 5 tarantulas. For my smaller spiders I’ll try swatting a fly just to stun it and then giving it to the spider. You can also find crickets outside this time of year. Look under rocks, wood, fence lines, and right up beside your house, especially by where your gutter or air conditioner drains. (If you have one)

Buy crickets that are healthy and ready to be eaten so that maybe that the spider will be healthy too.dont feed it flies that’s just junk food for them and they’ll die..
