 Spider in cricket box?

If i am not mistaken, most spiders are venemous and can bite. Toxicity is another thing. Just trap it and let it go, it’s probably a local species.

*All* spiders are venomous. Like Cap said, toxidity, however, is a different story.

correction metz no, not ALL spiders are venomous. i know this for a fact, this became a huge debate on arachnoboards.com and some links were posted about not all spiders being venemous, i googled it. this is what i found:

Quote:

Spiders in the family Uloboridae do not have venom glands at all, but merely bite their prey to subdue them.

i believe there is another family, but so you know...not *all* spiders have vemon glands....

well dear, you just keep on googling and I’ll get some true spider "experts" in here to clairfy it for you, how about that?
*ALL* *true spiders* have venom and it does not suprise me that AB is debating it. Some of those people don’t know their heads from a hole in the ground most of the time.

go get your *spider experts* or whatever you wish to all them. and 99% of the people on arachnoboards know more than you could ever wish to know...ever! so i guess all those links are false info? sounds like your a broken link with wrong info actually.... id like complete *proof* that every single spider has venom glands and the ability to produce it, and it has to be accurate info too. good luck on that, have fun.

Quote:

*All* spiders are venomous

then it was:

Quote:

*ALL* *true spiders* have venom

i see a difference, why dont you read your posts before you make false statements.

I shall try and be more specfic next time.

Quote:

The family Uloboridae do not have venom glands, yes, however, they do not bite their prey to subdue it, they wrap it in silk. The other species you might be thinking of is probably Liphistiidae, which consists of 5 genera and 87 species, some of which do posess venom and among those, some are thought to possibaly posess medically signaficent venom.
The Uloboridae are commonly found in the northern parts of Europe, so, depending on where this person lives, it could have been one....or any number of spiders at that.
Yes, not "all" spiders have venom, that is my bad for not wanting to go into this huge, drawn out explaination of which ones do not, why, etc. etc. because, quite honestly, I’ve had that discussion one too many times. It’s kind of like the fairy tale that daddy long legs are the most lethal spider on the planet....it gets old. However, point taken, I shall be more clear.

Next time I need spider info I shall be sure to ask an expert, not one who tries to fake being one, then backtracks by insulting lol.
Thanks for " enlightening us all ". Google can be and is a useful tool, and I am sure you use it as well.

I think that’s supposed to be dirrected toward me.
But that’s ok, I’m not afraid of "backtracking", which is not what I did, nor was I tring to be an "expert" but anyway.....

That is often debated, but the Atrax robustus (Sydney funnel web) is considered the most venomous and dangerous to humans.
