 Are they good for me?

this is what i said in another forum:

Quote:

My Deal::
Me and my dad made a deal that if I lose 12 lbs and pay for it then I can get a reptical. It is something about responsiblity and me loseing weight. (I’m like not fat but not skinny) So, anyway... I currently have 6 hermit crabs, 2 dogs, and 3 bettas. I currently have like $100 and since I just made the deal the other day, have lost 0 pounds. My birthday is June 22 and I am planning to make most of my money from that. (I’m getting $100 just from my grandma) He also said that if it is smaller then he would pay for it.

My Problem::
I really want a bearded dragon but my dad says that he’d rather not get one of those, saying they are too big. I wanted a beardie for many reasons but the main ones are because they are social, they are generally active and because they are decently big. I’d like to find and learn about another herp that has those same qualities but is smaller so that my dad gets what he wants.

so do these guys fit the description?

Sorta and sorta not! They are active...... But they are a smaller lizard, mine are only 6-8 inches, and I don’t know to many that are social... They do run all over the place and are fast, hence the name "swift", and are very hard to handle if you can even catch them. I have been bit a few times by mine and have had them run away when I remove them to clean their tank..... On the other hand they are fascinating to watch and are a good starter lizard, they are fairly easy to care for and are pretty hardy! I would suggest going through the care sheets for various lizards and reading about their personalities and their care, and then see what suits you best. Hope this helps you some:)

on to swifts are we? Swifts are harder to keep up than beardies and very rarely(I’ve had a few that were)become tame, and often bite, hard! blood spilled for my herps!

Do all you can to find the right herp for you, I’ll give some good hardy begginer lizards:

leopard gecko
bearded dragon
green anole(little bugers are fun to watch!)
brown anole

those are some good starter lizards

i’ve looked into leos and beardies and anoles are too fast so wouldn’t want to be held very much/well
