Mine too They don’t hate you! That’s just how they are. Mine occasionally will let me touch his head, but he doesn’t really like it, and only allows it for a couple seconds, then takes off! That’s where the name "swift" comes from, because they are swift moving! Swifts aren’t very "people friendly" like a leo or crestie, but they sure are fun to watch. So don’t take it personally - I’m sure they love you!

Are you guys kidding.
My swifts are wild. Caught right in our yard. They love people, they just need to get used to you and trust that you will not hurt them. They will even perch on the arms of my 5 and 2 year olds, with guidance of course. You just have to try daily and be gentle.

Not any more!
When I first got my swift, it wodn’t come near me too. So what I did is I just tried to pet him in his cadge. He didn’t let me at first, but then he did after about 1 day. Now he lets me hold him but he sometimes gets a little jumpy. So try what I did, and if it doesn’t work, tell me.

A hold, my swift hates me
Don’t worry. My boyfriend and I got our swift before Christmas, and he still runs when we put our hands in the tank. He freaks out and tries to run up the walls. Be very careful if you do get a hold of him because if you grab hold of his tail it will come off. But that’s totally natural, it’s their defense mechanism. Ours is growing back very well. Just let it do it’s thing. The people at the pet store told us that they’re land dwellers. Well, news for them ours is climbing the branches. We have him in the same tank as our anoles and Spaz has adapted to their ways. But they say it is not recommended to mix different lizards.
So just go ahead, reach in and grab him by his body, not tail!
Good luck!!
