Male and female Swifts

I had these guys since april, the male has always been smaller.
Hes finally getting his colors,

His back is really green and his tail is a dark blue and black
he has blue on his face then down his chin and on his sides.

They are cute and look just like my two. Only my male is longer than my female, my female is fatter though. I think she is gravid now. My male changes his colors all the time, some days his belly is bright blue and others it is pale. I think it has something to do with seasons. My Female looks pink under the light, but she is brown, green and yellow too. It all depends on the light above her.

I seen a swift on here named Zeus , think thats it anyway he looks nothing like my male.
Have you seen the blue stripes on his stomache?? mine doesnt have that at all.
My male gets really bright when hes after crickets, his throat now that depends on he angel
you look at him, i know its weird :)
If hes hanging from the top and you look from the front of tank, hes sooo blue on his throat
and his sides.
But you look at him from the top of screen his throat looks dark gray, but still has blue sides
just not as blue.

Oh i have a pic of the female where she has yellow/green on her back
she has a little blue/green around her mouth and some light brown on her chin.
but her stomache is pale so she changes color as much as the male.
Well as far as her back goes anyway.
From a copper color to a yellow/green to a brown color.

My male gets a really blue belly when he is after the his girlfriend. The otter sides of the belly are pale blue and then get really bright in the middle and black on the inside. Your may need to peel, has he peeled lately? Cause I now my boy isn’t as bright when a peel is coming.

This was a pic of his chin took may 06, but thats about the color he has now
on his chin and sides.
He just finished shedding last week.
Hes mostly a light color on his stomache, no blue at all
i mean just on his sides and his throat but not that blue.

Maybe because hes still little, about 6 inches.

My female, Emmie, is about 7" and my male is about 9". Have you noticed if he changes his color when you clean his tank. Devit gets really blue when I remove him to change his substrate, I remove them because they will not let me change it without running away. He also gets really blue when he is chasing the girl, he bobs his head at her and she bobs back then they chase each other around for a while, it’s funny. I am pretty sure she is gravid right now, she is getting really fat and very timid. She runs away every time anyone walks by the tank, and she never used to. Your guys color could be because he is young, mine where adults when we bought them, Emmie had already had babies with Devit. I don’t know when or if he you little guy will get that bright of blue, it could be because he is young, I don’t know if that will make a different. Sorry I can’t be more help.

I know right after he finished shedding he was the prettiest bright green on his back.
and the blue on his tail got darker.
Ive seen several on here with the same bright blue throat and stripes on their stomache
kindof makes me wonder if hes a Emerald swift.
Or maybe hes just different :)

He really gets green when hes after a cricket.
but never notice the blue on his neck, but look for that.

Oh have you ever seen either one on your swifts wiggle their tail when they are
watching a cricket??
Its cute, only seen the male do it, looks like a rattle snake :)

oh also seen him do it when the female pooped on him :)
so it must mean something, right ??

Here’s Zeus! I think he’s who you were talking about! He does have a beautiful belly, but he is a very dull greenish brown on rest of his body. When he was a baby, he was nice emerald green, but now he’s 1-1/2 and he’s fading! I haven’t ever done much research on types of swifts, but I believe there are several, and he is an "emerald swift" so maybe those males have more blue on their bellies.

swear they change color just by the angle you are looking at them :)
his throat and sides are a reallly pretty tro ( indian stone color) sorry dont know how to spell that word :)
but if you look when hes hanging upside down from the screen his throat is a gray color, i know weird.
He has no blue on his tummy at all, just his sides.

Now the female has only a hint of blue around her mouth, no where else.
her back sometimes has a green/yellow on it, but most of the time shes just a copper/brown color
