 Poopy Tank

Well I’ve had my tadpoles for about a week and a half or so and their water is filthy. But I’m not sure if its a good thing to take them out of it and clean it. Do they like dirty water? I tried just taking out a couple rocks at a time and clean those. But when I lifted some--poo filled the tank. My filter is cleaning it now, but I had to take alot of water out and put some new stuff in (I kept lots of their old water too).

So I was wondering if there was any easier way to clean it out, but if taking them out and cleaning the entire tank down is the way to go then I would like some tips or warnings to look out for.

To get the poop out: get a net, stir the bottom up, that will get the poop up. (net it)

What type of tadpole do you have?

I am a professional on getting poop out of the tank.

I will be here to help you. List any questions

I have three leopard frog tadpoles. Two are getting their legs (one is almost finished with his backlegs).

So I stir up the rocks then catch all the poo that floats in the water? My water isn’t very deep, its about 4 inches deep with a small land area for when they need it (I’m building a new terrarium for them once they turn to frogs). I was just wondering if this will effect the poop cleaning :).

I would get a net to get all of the poop out!

ammonium will set in and they could die.

I will stay here waiting for more information from you.

Ok i tried, poop flew everywhere across the tank (in the water). THe tadpoles hid in there underwater log and now all the poop is laying on everything (because it settled down). They net didn’t help but, the poop went right through :(. Any other ideas?

Sounds like the net that you used is to big.

Take a Panty Hose... put that in the net.

I will be here to help you!

Pantyhose... hmm I guess i could try that. So I ruffle the rocks, poop flies through the tank, the I swipe the pantyhose through it, is that right?
