Hello, It is, in fact, not extraordinary for tadpoles to take their time changing into frogs. Often environmental factors such as low temperatures or constantly changing environment can delay or stunt their growth altogether. As a rule, you must keep them in the warmest area you can find (76˚ -80˚ F). Also, please note that while cleaning the water often is a good idea, changing it too often is a bad idea. It is best to change only half of the water once a week and maintain its hygiene in between. If you notice them consistently eating everything you give them, you may give them more. Feeding them once, even twice a day can speed up the process as long as all the food is eaten and is not simply collecting in the tank. If you are running low on food, we would be happy to send you more. Please just provide us with your mailing address. Should you run out in the meantime, feel free to feed them any goldfish food that contains less than 33% protein (available at any local pet supply store). What do they mean by maintaining the hygiene in between cleanings? These are my kids tadpoles and they are just in a plantfrog habitat, there isnt really room for a filter or anything. The directions for cleaning and care arent very helpful. I am scared they are going to die. Any information someone could provide would be helpful! I have been looking online and cant really find anything. PLEASE HELP! This is what i have been doing so far I have been using bottled spring water when I clean them out. Which has been about every two days (which I will now stop since I found out this is wrong) I have a lamp over them to keep them between 76-80 degrees (i put a theometer on the habitat to make sure) I feed them about an 1/8 of a pellet of food every 24 hours which they dont finish. ( the pellets are only about 1/4-1/2" long to begin with) I dont move the habitat unless its time to clean them. We dont disburb them and pretty much just let them sit there. So what do I need to do differently? |
