 I have a mystery guest!

Yesterday I noticed a small baby snail crawling up the side of my tank. I have what I think is a leopard frog tadpole in a 10 gallon tank that is 3 quarters of the way full of water. I’ve put two fully grown live plants in there and two aquarium plant bulbs. Then poof! Snail.
My question is will the snail harm the tadpole’s water? If it’s going to be a problem I’ll get it out of there but I was just curious if it will hurt having it in there with the tadpole?

The snail should not harm it but you might want to take the snail out. I bought some live plants and I had a horrible snail invasion that last for about 6 months. The snails are asexual meaning that it only takes 1 snail to have babies and they reproduce like crazy-you could end up with a 1,000 snails in a couple of months. Make sure to rinse off plants real good or else they could come with a snail or eggs.

Oh boy are you not kidding! The next morning where there had been one snail there were now six. I did a total water change and tank cleaning yesterday. Unfortunately I didn’t get them all cause I found another one crawling up the side of my tank this morning. I was told that a clown louch will eat them. I have one in my fish tank. I don’t know if it’s safe to put him in with my tad though.

Well-I did a total of 3 water changes/cleanings PLUS I have a new tank and I noticed last night that there were baby snails! I must have missed a couple of eggs. It is SO frustrating trying to get rid of these little buggers! I think that a yoyo loach would work better but I know they need sand and also you need a couple of them-they are very social plus they will need about a 55 gallon tank. The clown loach gets big and is also social-I found that they need about 75 minimum gallons! I know there is stuff you can get at the pet store to get rid of snails but I do not know how safe it is for your tadpole. I just keep picking them out and keeping the tank clean. If I hear anything else that we both can do-I will let you know.
