I have released...
22 toadlets, into the wild so far. I had 31 tadpoles that have been changing and as soon as they get 3 legs they go outside by the pond in a small container and once the 4th leg pops out I put them in a shallow lid with a little water and they hop away with most of their tails still. I know they are only hopping to the pile of rocks by my pond, it is the pile the waterfall comes down for the pond and there is a little water under all the rocks in the liner so that is where I keep finding them all. I had only 1 die so far that I know of so I think I have 22 in the rocks, I guess I will find out when we move all the rocks to fix the waterfall so it stops leaking. I still have 26 that hardly have their legs yet but those will be going to my neighbors when they are grown. I have 8 more that I am watching for the 3rd leg so they can go outside then once that container is empty I will transfer the other 26 to it and get a hermit crab to put in the other container that the small tadpoles are in. I really don’t like toads but oh well, they will help keep the bugs away so they are ok in my book now. I did really want frogs but what can you do when you get your eggs from the neighbor who got them from somewhere else. I may eventually get tadpoles from a petstore that will turn into tree frogs but that won’t be until after my hermit crab dies or whatever. I am officially sick of tadpoles for now and I still have the other 26 to raise, so after that I am just going to try something different. I want to thank everyone who tried to help me identify my tadpoles that are turning into toads.
Thanks again everyone.
