Does he look bloated? He might have dropsy if he looks overly chubby or something, that might explain why he can’t seem to just sit at the bottom.
If you just got the tadpoles they might not eat out of stress, so don’t worry too much unless they start to look thin. It’s also possible they’re eating when you’re not around, they can be pretty shy.

I don’t think you are supposed to use bottled or distilled water for amphibians. Try switching to tap water with fish or terrarium water conditioner.

distilled water is not good for amhpibians except when treating for short periods for disease..

natural spring water works extremely well. and it doesnt leave water marks on tanks.. lol

distilled water, from what i remember actually depletes minerals/vitamins from amphibians...

good luck with the tadpoles!!!

Previous to many aquatic and semi aquatic setups, you may need to cycle the water. You do this by adding some products like Stability and a couple cheap feader fish. Supposedly the ammonia shoots up, then it turns into nitrate and the nitrate levels shoot up, then the nitrate levels drop and the tank is able to stabilize iself. I don’t remember reading anything about it but some every pet shop recommends cycling before purchasing the amphibian. They seems experienced and concerned because otherwise they would just sell the critter quickly and make the quick buck. It is best to cycle the water before adding the amphibian. So far, I have spent 3 weeks cycling the water for my semi-aquatic tank for my to-be fire belly toads. If the tads don’t survive (hopefully they will), you can at least have a plan for the next time you try. Best of luck!!!

I have never understood the ’lettuce’ ’fish food’ or ’Red Wringler’ feeding concepts.
they almost never survive off these things its too complicated.

I raise probably over a 1000 tads a year just like this

these are toad tadpoles, small tank not much water, no filtrtion, and an airaotor to keep away ammonia.

I find algea wafers ok for feeding, though REAL Algy is better. Notice in the pic just the dirt and random vegetations or slime at the bottom of the tank... they eat that fine. Taking care of tadpoles should be simple. Like with the toad tapoles pictured.
I dont buy anything for them... Like today I just crushed a snail and they devoured it in a couple hours. And yesterday I fed them a crushed snail and guts of a fish in the bottom of one of the turtle tanks

I hope this helps... and I hope your tadpoles are ok, but all that ’tadpole diet’ stuff just isnt natural for the tadpole to eat which may be why they refuse it
Good Luck!

Maybe call the vet or just gently shake there pool then they’ll move though be careful they might not eat the stuff you give them but if they don’t eat they’ll eat each other for more information please look on the internet. http://repticzone.com/images/faces/s10.gif
