When do I change tadpole’s diet to adult food?

My tadpoles are starting to develop back legs, they are about 6 weeks old. At what point do I change their diet? Right now I’m feeding them a prepared tadpole food (from the website I bought them), algae wafers and boiled lettuce.
When do I change to the adult food pellets that I bought from the website? Is there anything else I should feed them as they grow?

What type of tadpoles/frog do you have? Unless they’re african clawed frogs, they won’t eat pellets when they’re adults (I know the packaging shows a picture of a frog, but unless the food moves, they don’t know it’s food). Once they completely lose the tail they’ll start eating live crickets, earthworms, feeder guppies, minnows, etc.

They are American bullfrogs. So once they completely loose their tail, I should start feeding them crickets, earthworms, feeder guppies and minnows, and until then I should continue to feed them the prepared tadpole food and algae wafers that I am feeding them now?

Thank you for responding to my questions! I appreciate it.

Yeah for now just keep feeding them their regular food. When they get the front arms, they usually stop eating so that they could live off of the tail (that’s why it gets absorbed back).

Crickets are usually the staple in the diet, but you can mix it up with the other foods every once in a while so they don’t get bored. And also, the crickets will need to be coated with a calcium supplement powder every two feedings or so. And as for size, food items should be no larger than the space between the frog’s eyes (unless it’s like a worm or something, which will be longer than that length obviously).

You’re welcome. I know this forum can seem pretty dead a lot of the time, so I like to pop in and see what’s going on.
