What are these? One week ago I found some eggs in a local (Massachusetts) swamp. I brought some home and they hatched two days later. What emerged doesn’t look fully formed and yet almost all of them are still alive. The lie on the bottom of the tank or hang from the sides looking more like some sort seed than an animal. When they swim they move like tadpoles. They are TINY (6-7mm long) and completely black. I can see a tiny mouth (with a magnifier) but cannot make out any other features. I’ve collected salamander eggs and miscellaneous tadpoles in this swamp, but I’ve never seen anything like this before. Does anyone know what they might be?
I couldn’t upload the picture, use the link to see them.

That’s what tadpoles look like when they first hatch! Good catch!

What are these? The egg mass was spread out on the surface of the water. The small scoop that I collected came away from the rest very easily. I ended up with 60-70 so I would guess the mass as having between 300-500 eggs, maybe more. They were very clear, about 4mm across with black spheres inside. They hatched really quickly! I guess I’ve just never seen them this young. The last batch of eggs I collected were salamanders.
