 Tadpole setup

i have four tadpoles i caught them in a creek. at first my friend told me to put hose water with dirt. i thought the hoes was tap water so i emtied it out. then i out betta water in. so was it ok to put hose water with dirt. and is it good to use betta water. and i feed them algea

I don’t think hose water would be too good, it probably depends on where you live, but there’s probably a lot of additives like chlorine in there. I know the hose water by my house would be really bad for frogs/tadpoles.

If you want, you can find something like repti-safe or aqua-safe at a local petstore. It’s drops you can add to the water to get rid of harmful compounds. Betta water’s probably good too, but that could get expensive after a while.

Feeding them algea’s fine. You can also feed fish flakes and boiled lettuce if you want.

And from your other post: while I don’t know the identity, the little guy with all it’s limbs is now a froglet, not a tadpole, so make sure it has land to come out from the water otherwise it could drown. When it loses its tail it’ll also start eating live food, just so you know.
