Fountain Okay, my dad wants some frogs in our yard, so he put me in charge of researching. We have a fountain that has a filter, pump and this little hose thing that squirts out water to keep the water moving. I live in Southern California. We were thinking of getting 5-10 tadpoles. We also have this swampy thing in our yard, but only when it gets wet, so the frogs can live in that too. My question is, what kinda of frogs should we get? A fast one would be nice, or one that can blend in, because every once in awhile we have a raccoon that come across our fountain.

Fountain And would it be okay if I had the tadpoles turn into frogs in a big tub, and then release them into the fountain? Once again, every once in a while the fountain becomes a raccoon-sushi bar.

Fountain I would release the tadpoles into the fountain/pond you plan on keeping them in. You can buy pond nets to keep raccoons and birds of prey from eating them. This is probably the best way to get them to stay around the water once they mature.
I am sure 5-10 is fine, it usually depends on what size the fountain/pond is.
Please note that frogs will not always stay around the pond. Once they mature they may leave.
I worked at a pet store/nursery and we had customers that bought a few tadpoles every year because they eventually leave, especially here in Michigan to hibernate.
