 Bullfrog tadpole!!

I purchased 2 pounds of koi from my local bait and tackle store today to put in my fish pond in my yard. There was a huge tadpole hiding inside the bag with the koi and I knew it had to be a little bullfrog tad!! So cute!!! I didn’t add him to the pond with the koi. He’s in my 20 gallon fish aquarium for the next few hours until I can get my older son to get an aquarium out of our shed for me to set up as a home for him. The tad has all 4 legs and a long tail. About how much longer should it take until he has absorbed his tail from this point? I’ve read that they take 2 years to become frogs but I’m assuming that at this stage it shouldn’t be long now. Do I still need to offer fish flakes to him? I know that he’s absorbing his tail at this stage, so he may not eat. I have algae tablets. Should I put one of those in his water for him to enjoy along with the fish flakes? He’s such a cute little guy. I hope I do things right so that he will survive.

Well I would get some river rocks, and slope it downwards into the water for the new tank.

So if it is soon he can go out.

I would add the algae tablet and see if he eats it, if not well then more or less he might be ready to go out.

When he does he won’t eat until he absorbs all of his tail, it can take up 2 a week or less.

Once he absorbs his whole tail you can feed him pinhead crix.

Ok, thanks for the info! BTW, I told my 15 yo. son he can have him if he will be responsible for his care (he’s a really responsible kid, so I’m sure he’ll take good care of him) and he’s named him Jeremiah, lol. Took me a few minutes but I finally got it. The song "Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog" by 3 Dog Night, rofl. I don’t know where my son heard that song from. I haven’t heard it in years. I thought the name was really cute and perfect for our little guy, though.
