Our leopard frog tad isn’t morphing!? 
Our leopard frog tadpole has been VERY diligently cared for by my 10 year old daughter since 02/05. He has still not morphed. Ever hopeful, we imagine that we see bulges where tail meets body, but nothing is happening. Everything I’ve read has said that these tads tend to morph in early Summer (July), but now it’s Fall. He seems otherwise healthy. He’s big, his body has gotten longer, he’s a fast swimmer, but still no legs. Any input? He’s in a Planet Frog Habitat.

warmer water morph faster but if its too warm they die or if its too cold they die too. tadpole takes time to morph. sometime it takes more then a year.

ive had my two planet frog tadpoles since 1/05. they have not grown a bit. i tried everything. i even e-mailed Uncle Milton but i got an automated reply that did not help me at all. u really cant do anything. even though i wish i cud.

To get tadpole to morph faster you might want to try slowly lowering the water level and providing a land area to crawl out on. I dont know what a planet frog habitat is but i am guessing that it is a tiny container. You will eventually have to get rid of this and use a rubbermaid bin or aquarium. Personally i like the rubbermaid bins for raising tapole and many can be kept in one large bin.

I just found this site. I, too, was suckered into buying a Planet Frog Habitat back in November of ’05. I ordered two Leopard Frog tadpoles that, 11 weeks later, remain unmorphed (contrary to what the booklet says will be a 4-6 week morphing period). One of my tadpoles is eyeless (clearly a socket, sans eye, in one and partial eye in the other). He’s been like this for a few weeks. We’ve resigned ourselves to the fact that we’ll have tadpoles as pets, but no frogs. Anyone know where I can buy tadpole food? Thanks!

i got planet frog 2. the slowly lowering water works, but when they get their legs, add a stack of rocks near the side so the froglets won’t drown. mine are about a year old and i keep them in their cage, but take them out to feed them so the crickets don’t drown. when you u get crickets, make sure to by a kricket keeper, orange cubes, and calcium powder. i got all this at petsmart.

Almost 2 years ago my sister bought one of those planet frog things-The tadpole still hasn’t completely changed!! I’ve been feeding him tadpole food from petsmart. So far he’s got 2 back legs and a bulge for an arm i hope. I was told to lower the water to help force the change--What I can’t seem to find is a exact temp for the water!!! the Fact sheet on this website says 60-70 and then others say warmer water helps!! I am so ready for the tadpole thing to be done!! What temp should i strive for???

we fed our tadpoles goldfish crumbles.. we found ours ina drying up mudd hole while 4 wheeler riding, and in about 6 weeks we have lil frogs...
i need to know what to feed the lil frogs now..

i had the same problem with my planet frog. one of mine died and the other we just released into my pond outfront and havent seen it since. i think it changed tho cause we have several leos outfront
