Help me identify my tadpole, its driving me nuts!!

These are the pics of my tadpole. He is just starting to grow little legs. I have had him for about 2 months or so, and I got him from the petstore. The guy told me in the petstore that he was gonna be a Leopard Frog, but he didn’t seem too sure. He is pretty solid colored, but does have some light yellow speckles on his tail. And is about 3", maybe a little longer. He also lost some of his tail from a crayfish when I first got him (yes I took him outta there:)), but it grew back, I don’t know if that would have caused a stunt in the growth of his tail or not. He also only has one gill that I can see. Its like a little bubble on the one side, with a little hole in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well it doesn’t look like a leopard frog or bullfrog...maybe a green frog or some kind of tree frog?

I was thinking green frog at first too... But he doesn’t have the ridges of skin (forget what their called) from behind his eyes, and going down his back, like they say green frogs have. I am really stumped on this. I have been trying to figure this out for awhile now, and still no luck. I have tried comparing pics online of tadpoles, and I still can’t figure it out. I guess I will just have to wait and see once he is a frog. And I don’t think he’s a tree frog. His little toes don’t have balls on the end that I can see.

Maybe the ridges come when they’re full frogs?

Yes that is very possible I guess. Though I have no previous experience with frogs. This is my first tadpole, lol. But I will let you know what he is later on:)

K now that his legs are getting a little bigger I noticed that they are yellowish with little green spots on them. And his toes are FULLY webbed. All 5 toes. I know they say certain species have 4 webbed and this and that. So maybe that will help a little.

I’d still say we’re at a stand-still until it’s a full change. I’m not sure what leopard frogs look like when they’re that young.

Well I’ve read a few places that the webbing on the green frogs stop at the second joint on the 4th toe. And that isn’t the case with this guy, since he is fully webbed. So I’ve excluded Green frog. I am leaning toward Bullfrog and Leopard frog from what I’ve read. So I just have to be patient and wait and see.

Frogger FINALLY got his front legs. The weird thing is that earlier in the day yesterday he just had what looked like holes in his sides. Now he has both front legs. His face is starting to change too. He is also getting little black spots on his back. I am really starting to think leopard now, lol. How long before he will start wanting to come out of the water? I have a log and some plants in there that he can get out on, but I’m not sure how that works, since this is gonna be my first frog:)

Well I guess it could be a leopard frog then, and now that it has all of it’s legs it will probably start coming out of the water pretty soon.
Congratulations

They are leopard frogs and you feed then lettuce boiled or not. but if you do feed them lettuce change the water often, and you can feed them algea discs and crushed up flake fish food. Also if it 7.5" it a bullfog not a leopard frog. leopard frogs only grow to 5-8" the biggest i’ve seen is 7". And i’ve been raising frogs for 20 years. I’ve raised 63 types. anyway its a leopard frog.
