 Relationships.

I’ve had my red tegu, Dozer, for about a month now. I know that where she came from she was never handled or well cared for for that matter. I want to change that for good. But first, I want her to trust me. At first I was waking her up every other day so that i could feed her; she would stay out for the rest of the day and i would spend time sitting with her (with her still in her tank). Lately I’ve been leaving her to come out on her own, but i only get to see her every 4 days (or so) when she gets hungry and comes out. when she does though, and stays out to bask I’ve been sitting with her and leaving to doors open so there’s nothing there and trying to get closer to her.

What I’m getting at is that i would like to hear some stories of methods that other people have used to calm down scared tegu’s, or some good advice on how to create a good pet-owner relationship.

Should I talk to her?
And should I go as far as separating her from my cat? They’ve met, and Davika seems more afraid of Dozer than Dozer does of her.

Thanks in advance everyone.
