Possible Mites..Need help ASAP 
Okay so I am holding my tegu and I notices this little black dot crawl over him. Then I saw like 3 little white things moving across my hand? I am thinking mites. So Any advice on how to get rid of them adn clean my cage and supplies. I already got him in a quarintine tank.
i THINK THE SOURCE WAS THIS PIECE OF WOOD i PUT IN HIS CAGE FOR BASKING. iT CAME FROM MY WOOD PILE IN THE SHED. i WASHED IT PRETTY GOOD BUT i SHOULD OF FROOZE IT OR BAKED IT. I am worried on the situation.
Can the mites harm me or my tegu?

Pick up some prevent-o-mite, Its very simple and the mites don’t have a chance. just follow the directions. you should be able to get it at your local pet store, or order it on line.

Okay thankyou. I think my pet shop that I go to might have some mite prevention and I will spray things down with that and wash everything.
What about my tegu. Just soak in warm water everyday? Will that work? And for me Mites cant harm me right?

heyy if your still having the problem (im sure you have already gone over this with someone) soaking in water wont do anything, iworked at an exotic pet store and have delt with mites on every kind of reptile, a lot of times mites come from the substrate, but "reptic relief" is what i would stongly prefer as i found it works the best for mites it can be sprayed throughout the enclosure and directly on the reptile and kills the mites on contact, you are going to need to take everything out and get rid of the substrate wipe down the enclosure with the spray and all other ammenities in the tank, while oyu are treating the reptile i would recommend not putting the water bowl in the cage for a few days after(mites thrive on moisture) they should be gone in a few days.
