senior kenny please dont bump up old threads and hijack them. if you have a question about the size of your tegu post a new thread.

this is the time and date of the post before you posted 02/28/08 07:23pm. this is the time and date you posted on 05/13/08 at 09:59PM. as you can see its 3 months old and the original poster probably wont even check back to it and see your question.

hey senior kenny!
no worries about hijacking my thread!
regarding your tegu, make sure you give him lots of variety to eat. he should have vitamin powder and also u.v light. our tegu eats like a bottomless pit!! he eats anything!! he had some plums today but he’s more a meat guy. those pics were taken when he was 10months old. he’s now even bigger!! he’s growing soooo fast. my boyfriend is going to be building a new cage for him in the summer so i’ll post some pics after summer. here’s a pic of the tegu at our local pet store (he was 6months old then)

it would definitely help if he had more space. there is nothing wrong in keeping a small tegu in a big enclosure and i think he will grow more if he’s given the space. does your tegu have a good appetite? what does he like to eat and how often do you feed him?

as long as ur tegu is young, feed him every 2 days. give him fruits, raw or cooked meat
( chicken, beef pork or liver)minced/ pieces. They love chicken and liver is very good for him as well. mice are good as well. give him crickets as a treat but see if he eats proper meat.give him calcium and vitamin powder.Do u have UV light???they need that to grow, its very important for their bones.

hiya!
senior kenny: yes...too much banana is not good for tegus since it is high in potassium. have a look at the food list that guido posted in reply to KsTaR.

KsTaR: our tegu loves his meat. he eats a little bit of fruit but he’s more a meat guy. i’ve never kept a black and white/ golden/ columbian but re: red tegus, i don’t think that they are any harder to keep than a black and white. i’ve had good experiences with red tegus.
