OK, so we let patches roam around the yard and we thought she was pooping but this nasty hard yellow thing came out!!!!!

what is this thing???

is this normal for reds???

sounds like a sperm plug to me. quite possibly patches is a boy. or its urese in some form or another.

its not a sperm plug, when a tegu releases sperm you will know it lol. its a urate, sometimes they get bound with them and realease a nasty one. yellow is normally a sign of dehydration

Well seeing as though lizards have vents, meaning they dont have separate excretrory passage ways for urine and feces they remove both their feces (the solid) and the urate/ uric acid (which is a mixture of both an either white or yellow clump and possibly fluid).

Thats probably what the clump was, and no it was definitely not sperm. Like someone mentioned you’d know if it was sperm :P

And also if its yellow that usually means that your lizard is dehydrated
