that size cage could house 2 tiger ameivas (ameiva undulata)

i usedto have an ameiva and here is my only advice

DONT GET ONE unless you are ready for a big headache. they are all full of parasites when you get them, they are hard to take care of, they dont take meds easily, you cannot hold them or anything.

maybe if you told us what you are looking for in a lizard we could help you find one that would be just right. but personally an ameiva is one of the hardest lizards to care for in captivity.

maybe AmeivaBoy could help you more. he was allot of help when i had mine.

and as far as i know the biggest ameiva is a green ameiva and it does not get 2 feet. but ameivas need alot of room because they are such active lizards.

there are other kinds of lizards that are easier to care for and more friendly than an ameiva that could go in a cage that size too. i would be happy to help you find the right lizard.

another thing that i would like to know is what other reptiles have you had?

please do not take anything i said too harsh. i just wish someone would have told me this stuff before i bought my ameiva. it would have saved me allot of trouble.

i hope i helped a little.

Thanks now I know not to get one. Im going to be getting 3 or 4 Leopard Geckos soon Im just trying to find a good breader. I was looking gfor another reptile that is airborel since Im getting desert Leos. I was told by a breader that I could get by with a 4’Lx5’Hx2’W for 2 water Dragons to live in happily, and I guess that is what ill do when Im more experienced unless you have any suggestions. I cant have anything like frogs that croak because my mom is a light sleaper and our walls are very thin.

crested geckos are amazing. i just got one. if you go in to the crestie forum and look for my post you can see lots of pics of my Zazu. he is awesome.

a good breeder for geckos is dirtystinkystuff.com Tamara and David really know what they are talking about and are alot of help. i got my crestie from them. they are in California but have no problem shipping. i am on the east coast and they shipped to me.

leos are awesome pets too. they are a good choice. i think Tamara and David might breed them also. i dont think you can keep that many in one cage tho due to them fighting or over breeding.

whatever you get dont buy on impulse. research lots and have the tank set up before you even get the animal. if you want you could pm me and depending on what kind of lizard you get i can send you to some other sites that have allot of good info about them.

if you want something aboreal and small i would go with some kind of gecko. i like aboreal lizards too. i was looking in to getting a water dragon and from my research i dont think 2 dragons would have enough room in that size cage. one probably would tho, especialy if you made it 30" wide instead of 2’, it would still fit through a door but would give the dragon alot more room. you could go to the water dragon forum here tho and ask about it. i dont know alot about them i just know from my research that they need alot of room because they need water space, land space, and height for climbing.

im glad i helped talk you out of an ameiva. they are awesome lizards they are just hard to care for and end up being a bad choice in the end.
