Tegu update Well one week later and Dino is eating like a champ. Colombians are really nervous lizards let me tell you. I’ve held her more than 10 times already and she’s made a run for it 3 times and just now when I was wan’t even holding her. I opened the cage to mist it and as soon as I started misting she jumped incredibly high and out of the cage. I’m thankful she hasn’t attempted to bite yet because she did quite a number on the baby mouse I gave her and it was pre killed. I feel really bad though because when I put her back in I realized she was in the process of shedding because the tip of her snout was peeling. I hope this won’t contribute to her nervousness and only make the process to keep her calm when I hold her.

Tegu update Oh I know they are "look but don’t touch" lizards but I’m talking in regards to taming her and getting her used to me. I’ve dealt with nervous lizards and snakes in the past. If I would have known she was in the process of shedding I wouldn’t have been handling her because that’s a no no. I’m sure she’ll calm down over time but I know that Colombian Tegus are very flighty.
