 Can you feed tegus voles?

Hello everyone,

I have a black and white argentine tegu and also have a vole problem in our backyard. For anyone who is unsure of what voles are, they are just little rodents basically like field mice. They have eaten our trees, grass etc so the parents are furious. I, loving any animal, do not want to kill them and wondered if instead of putting poison in teh traps, we could use some sort of food, and then i could feed it to my tegu? My main concern however is whether or not they wouldbe dangerous? I’ve fed bugs and worms to my tegu from outdoors but worry that voles may carry some sort of parasites or diseases with them. I don’t want to endanger my pet of course so if anyone knows whether or not these are bad news alltogether please let meknow!

cheers

I would recommend not using the voles. You have no idea whether or not they have been exposed to any other poisons and there is a good chance they could be carrying parasites. Feeding anything from the wild to a captive animal is very dangerous and risky. Stick with captive rats/mice/feeder bugs. If you would like to vary his meals, try superworms, roaches, mealworms, waxworms silkworms, pinkies, fuzzies, baby food, eggs, meat, or even fish
