 Diet

Would someone post the diet of a b&w tegu? I really just need to know the ratio of fruits to meat. I was planning on feeding roaches and mice but didn’t know what king of fruits or veggies to give him and how much. Also I don’t have a tegu yet.

are you getting a baby? babies generally dont eat fruits. Just keep them on crix, roaches, mice, rats, eggs, turkey and whatever you can really think of that might be safe. Ive even tried bait fish...but too messy....but when they’re adults they can eat soft fruits like cantalopes, bananas, and others but not too much bananas cuz the potassium levels. also no oranges.

lol... sorry boobyVu, i couldnt help my self but laugh.

Any way, for a diet with your tegu:

Mice, ground turkey, COOKED eggs, and meats of the sort... its really common sense when it comes to meat.

As for fruits/veggies... They can eat almost anything you offer.. with some exceptions... Absolutely NO citrus whatsoever... that includes lemons, grapefruits, oranges etc.
Bananas ... can be fed SPARINGLY, as too much potassium can be deadly to your herp.
Lettuce and other watery fruits/veggies i.e. iceberg lettuce and watermelon, cause diarrhea.

Go for dark, leafy, greens .. such as spinach, collar greens, etc
As for fruits you can try things such as cantalope, apples, kiwis, honeydew etc.

Just remeber what you can and cannot feed them i you’ll be set.
I have an actual sheet i came up with ... i will add this to the forum when i get home :)
