New Tegu Owner
Hi I am new to tegus and this forum. I did research and found that the most docile calm tegus is the Argentine Black and White Tegu. I want a Gold Tegu. I know where to get one for 32.00. I know that they are argessive and skiddish but i own a green basilsk so i know how to handle a skiddish bite alot lizard. Crawling under beds, being bitten and having a lizard jump out your hand are all things i have gone through. I belive i can tame a gold tegu. Anyways could i get some info on Food, Water Source, Subtrate, Climbing, Digging needs. I am going to buy a custom cage from customcages. It is 72 in long 24 in wide 24 in tall. Is that okay for a gold tegu. Thank You.

New Tegu Owner Just keep in mind that a basilisk average 2ft in length and about 7 oz where as a golden can get 3ft+ quite a bit more...
Also, a tail whip and a bite from a golden is exponentially stronger than that of a basilisk.
Golden Tegus tend to be very aggressive, very strong lizards, and are not recommended for beginners.
nonetheless if your heart is set on one, good luck
