 Argentine Tegu

Hi everyone I’ve had my little guy for a little more than 2 months. S/he is about 12 inches now and hasn’t shed since I’ve gotten him/her. Does it take this long for a tegu to shed? I got him/her April 7th and it just finished shedding when I got it. Please let me know. Thanks. Alex

your tegu should have shed again already, maybe you’re not feeding enough.

I feed Dino as much as it wants until it walks away from the offered food and that’s a substantial amount of food.

Im with aveiva ... the diet needs to be varried, also is your humidity at the correct percentage? AND do you have a UV bulb?

Zeke is about a year and probably sheds twice a month? if not more, hes a biggie :)

What kind of tegu is it? Umm what kinds of food are you feeding it? Try giving it a mixture of foods in a week. Like mix it up a little. But then your prolly wont take any fruits or veggies yet....read Mike’s like for foods and try some of those.

I feed him pinkies, crickets, fruits and boiled eggs. Two days ago he started shedding on his face and lower jaw but that was it. His body is in lighter than usual but it doesn’t seem to be coming off. The humidity is fairly in the 80’s. Let me know. Thanks Alex

I guess he wanted a bigger cage with a bit more humidity than usual. He finished shedding today. Thanks for everyone that put in some input. Alex
