As to you coults, As with any herp, they should have a vast variety of foods both flesh and plant matter. Meaning, mice shouldnt be the MAIN part of the diet and neither should chicks. If you do mice one day do chicks the next, then go back to mice, or try some ground turkey. And dont forget your veggies/fruits... tegus are omnivorous. As for nutrition goes ... im kicking myself right now cuz i dont know the answer, but im not too sure which would be healthier for him. Although ... chicks are newly born, meaning they just consumed the amniotic nutrition, where as the older the rats/mice get the more apt they are to being malnutritioned ... but nonetheless, dont keep giving your tegu one type of meat consistantly ... thats no fun, and gets boring. Also, if you would like to try it ... there is a type of canned dog food, its called turducken. It is an organic dog food (aka no preservatives or harmful toxins) its more or less like a beef stew. So u can give that i try, all our tegus love it! Anyway i hope that helped! Good luck Mike |
