How do i make a half and half tank

how do i make a half water and half land tank for a fire belly toad?

Can fire belly toads use potting soil instead of gravel?

I made my land on top of the water:

I would not use potting soil or gravel-they may accidentally eat it when eating a cricket. You can use large pebbles about 1-2 inches in length or even flagstone. I use a waterfall, turtle dock with cave and moss, reptile hammock with moss and ivy vine, some floating plants placed on top of the filter, various plants placed here and there, and the middle rectangular thing is a floating island that is suction cupped to the bottom of the aquarium. Hope this helps you!

I have fire-bellies in a 20 long enclosure, I am not able to add pics right now. But here is what I have created. I took the tank and used a divider wall I found at Pet Smart to divide my habitat. On one side I have put a base of large pebbles with moss on top. This area also has a live ivy type plant. the other half has a small layer of larger pebbles with a water fall filter. I have taken slate to build rocks plateaus and and even a cave. Be sure to have an under tank heater with UV lights.

Robin,
Your tank sounds great! I had live plants in my tank but they came with snails that I have been trying to get rid of for a couple of months-just got 2 yo-yo loaches to try to get rid of some of the snails (I have hundreds-mostly little babies though). I have a heater in the tank-you can kinda see it on the right side of the top photo. As soon as I sell my house and move I am gonna redo the tank so that the right side half is land, I am gonna use a piece of plexiglass, cut it so it fits the entire right side of the tank so that it "floats" on top of the water so my fish still have a lot of water space. I will probably take out the waterfall even though they love it because they keep on finding ways to get inside of it! I think once I redo it I will probably put in a live ivy plant-they look so nice in tanks! Can’t wait to see pictures of your tank.
