 Setup question

I truely believe FBTs like MUCH more water (like a half water, half land and not just a water dish type habitat). Even though FBTs are toads, they really should be treated more like frogs.

I have around 4 inches of water in my tank and my three FBTs love to swim down to the bottom and catch minnows every once in a while or just swim.

But, this is an owner’s choice and in my opinion, I suggest less land and more water; they are swimmers.

Good luck!

Oh, and another suggestion...

Do you just have the one FBT? I think you should get 1 or 2 more. My three are thriving in my 10 gallon and they love to interact with each other. Your FBT might be lonely in there! ;-) I was lucky enough to be able to get the last three at the pet store so they were already familliar with each other.

They can also climb, so a lot of people go with a filtered aquarium topped by so many plastic plants that it pretty much amounts to a whole land level. I don’t actually have a firebelly, but they do seem happy in those setups.

I have two toads and they spend as much time in water as they do off. I happen to have the same bowl as you too. Everything in your tank looks good in my opinion, but I agree with the people above. If you only have one i would get another toad ^-^ Here’s my tank setup for example:

 Setup question

from the looks of your first photo, It looks as though you could probably flood the larger rocks a bit to make them look like a bottom of a pond. If not i would still flood it a little but only as much as to keep the water below the rocks but to keep the tops of the rocks over the water’s surface. And Yes, I would definitely add another fbt (preferably of the opposite sex) to your current one

If you do get another fbt, make sure you quarantine it for about a month to make sure it is not sick.

wait, you quarantine your fbt’s for a month? I only quartine them for 2 weeks before I let them in.
( i don’t buy any more so it’s not a problem but,) Well anyway, I guess I was lucky because I have had no deaths, except one that climbed out and dried out.

 Setup question

Rat Snake Lover,

In a 20 gallon tank you can only have 5. The rule of thumb is 1 FBT per every 4 gallons of water.

Yes, don’t over crowd your tank with more Toads then required. Over filling can cause stress, which is bad for your Toads.

 Setup question

You could Move the FTBs into a big and nice setup in the 30g and put something else in the 10g.
