 Do toads eat other toads/frogs?

We have a small american toad, 3-4 inches long. My daughter caught a small wood frog about 1" long. Right now they are in seperate cages. If we put the wood frog in with the toad do we need to worry about the toad trying to eat the wood frog?

Thanks,
Major

don’t combine frogs with toads, if the wood frog is small enough to the point where it can easily fit in the taods mouth, I wouldn’t put them together. If I was you I would let the poor wood frog go.

What about two american toads with toads? Would a large toad eat a small one?

most toads will eat whatever they can easily fit in their mouths, if you get amphibinas as pets, you should get them from the petstore because getting them from the wild is stressful to them and they are more aggressive, and can carry parasites and diseases.

They do best if kept alone, but it’s especially important not to mix species or sizes. Toads are poisonous to other animals that have to share a water dish with them, and a big toad will often eat a little toad. Also, a big toad can easily bully a smaller one, without even trying to, by trampling over it, hogging all the food, etc.

YES. it could happen. My mom told me that bigger toads/frogs will eat the littler ones, like guppies do.

yes it happend to me i found grey tree frog and when i came home i found a huge american toad (5-6in.) so i put them together and when i woke toad made a huge poo and the tree frog was missing so i noticed a frog leg in toad poo and you make the connections. very sad.

the moral of the story is never place a big frog with a little frog.
