 FBT Feeding?!?

Hello, my name is Ryan and I am new to this forum. I am going to be getting some FBTs. Before I get them I need to clear up one thing. How do you feed them? How much o you feed them?

Typically, I try to get 2 crickets to each toad every other day.. and give them a phoenix worm once or twice a week..

I give the small crickets and dust with powder at least 1 x a week. Depends on how many you have. I have 6 frogs and I usually put in 24-30 crickets this way they usually get about 4 each, sometimes it works sometimes somebody gets shorted till the next feeding.

It really depends on the fbt. I feed my baby fbts every day and they eat about 3-4 tiny (not pin head) crickets but they will soon be moving to every other day and my adults get fed every other day and they each eat about 3-5 small crickets each time. The babies are always consistent with the amount they eat and my 2 females always eat more the my male. I tweezer feed them and do not let the crickets run around the tank due to the fact that my tank is mostly water and I do not want them to drown plus I do NOT want any escape crickets since I HATE bugs/insects.

Okay so I would feed 2 FBT, about 10 crickets every other day? And some waxies lke once a week?
And Also, I have a substrate question. I understand that dravel is not reccomended. Can I use large river rocs for the water area, and then do them on top? Or what is the kind of substrate I should use? Thans a lot.

Fire belly Toad feeding. So I would put in 10 crix for my 2 FBTs every other day, or every day?

Whatever works best for you as long as they are not starving. For example, I used to feed everyday and now I don’t. Sometimes they get fed 3 days in a row and sometimes once a week. I use a cricket rock to feed my FBTs. I put the crickets in it with the dusting powder and some fish flakes. The toads eat while the crickets escape the rock and if any are not eaten they go back into the rock where their food is until they decided to venture out again.

I use river rocks and then larger flat rocks (which I found in my yard) on top of them. Moss gets into the water and gets the water yucky. It can also cause impaction as can gravel. You can try eco-earth or something like that but make sure there are no sticks or anything sharp as it can hurt their underbellies and then you have an infection on your hands.

Okay, so I have decided, I will feed them 5 crix every other day, and some treats once a week such as fruit flies, waxies, and silkies.
