 Funny stories sometimes gross toads/tadpoles/frog

welll every year i go on vaction with my family. my cousin awlways goes into the little pond and finds a toad. then after she catches it she always kisses it. is that kewl and gross at the same time. if you have any funny or gross stories about toads tadpoles or frogs. if you would like any animal 2. hope you like the story and i hope i can enjoy yourstoo. thanks a bunch,

your daughter can kill herself that way, true toads will produce a poison called bufotoxin, which can kill a cow! so I would make her stop. infact, cane toads are bringing pygmy alligatores to extinction because of their poison and tons of dogs and other pets die a year because they bite a toad, or even lick it. Im not being mean, just trying to be on the safe side.
Heres sortof funny stories.
when I feed my toads, they get really excited and will mistake eachother for crickets and will bite eachothers noses, and htey even bite my fingers! its so cute. another funny story is one of my males is always performing amplexus on every toad in the tank, and once he grabbed another toad in amplexus form but the other toad was upside down! lol. I have tadpoles that hatched the other day and when they first hatched they would swim up to the surface and float down, thats not funny but oh well.
this doesn’t involve amphibians, but my female chinchilla alwasys steels treats from my male, knows hw to get on the washer machine, and can open the cabinet. my male will sometimes get excited when I take the dust bath out and will run into my leg. my storis arent that funny but some are cute.

anilver - Most toads actually don’t contain poison strong enough to kill a human from a simple kiss or lick. The poison is generally to leave a bad taste in the mouth of a predator, or cause minor side effects such as numbness, swelling, and itching. However, some toads, such as the cane toad you listed, can kill humans. The Colorado River Toad, my favorite, has sadly been used for "recreational activity" but it can also kill humans when in high enough doses.

In this case, its not even the bufotoxin that I worry about. Toads can sometimes inhabit some pretty nasty ponds, or dig in some pretty nasty stuff. They are capable of passing salmonella, nematodes, and various other disease and parasites. A pinpoint sized drop of water is enough to pass on all of those.


Anyways, as for my nasty stories. My toad puked once. I have a photo, but its not much to look at. My male also insists on peeing on me EVERY time I touch him. I don’t know why he can’t be more considerate like my female who never pees on me as long as all 4 legs are supported.

Princesushi-Its always better to be safe, and we don’t know what kind of toad her cousin kisses, what if it is a cane toad? that would be bad. even if hte toad does not have poison or a very dilude poison, I would still be safe. lets jsut continue the funny story thing.

Kirsrokz - Of course not. I’m not telling you to force her, but you should just let her know about the risks. Once she knows, she can make her own choice. ;D

Anilver - As far as I know, there are no wild cane toads in New York. The species that I know of from New York are harmless to most humans.




NEW STORY
In the morning I change the water in my toad’s bowl. However, when I picked up the bowl my toad launched out from under it and scared me. I’ve never seen my toads burrow under their dish.Anywyas, I dropped the bowl, luckily missing the toad, but it splashed up dirty water onto my neck and shirt. It was so nasty. I took a shower as soon as I got them fresh water
