A few ? on fbt First, 4 is too many for a 10 gallon tank but perfect for a 20 gallon.
Secondly, they could need a settling in period.
Third, are you just throwing in the crickets? I have a cricket rock which I put the little buggers in and they come out of a little hole on there own. My FBTs wait by the rock for them to appear and then snatch them up before they have the chance to ever hit the water. My tank is also 1/3rd land.
Fourth, how big are the crickets? You should be feeding them pinhead to medium size.

A few ? on fbt Here is a link to it cricket rock
Very easy to use even if you lose the plug like I did. I turn my the other way around from what the picture shows you. I put in the dust and some fish food, do the shaking thing, and if some crickets don’t get eaten they find their way back inside until they decide to come out again. It does take up a lot of my land space but the FBTs don’t seem to mind as they jump all over it.

A few ? on fbt My local pet store doesn’t carrying anything like that so I had to order two on line I’m going to try and cut a small circle in a fish food container and cover it with rocks hopefully will work somewhat till the real thing gets here. Thanks so much for the tip i had no idea they even made something like that. The new tank should be done today once the aquarium silicone has dried good I’m anxious to get it set up I’m trying a little more land in this one about half and half my one FBT doesn’t spend allot of time in the water so thought he or she (its so hard to tell) might like a little more land.

I just thought i would update you they all have ate but one i think it might be a female only a guess it just has a rounder look then the other ones i removed some of the foliage on the land side and put the small fish food container in loaded with dusted pin head crickets at first not allot happened till four or five came out then the FBT spotted them and it was chow time thanks for the idea. im a little worried about the the one i think is a female it hasnt ate yet and just doesnt move around like the others maybe its a little stressed yet from the move.

A few ? on fbt Yes, most likely stressed. I had one that wouldn’t come out of hiding or eat for about 2 weeks. I poked him a bit to make sure he was alive but ended up leaving him alone. Sounds like your rounded one is a girl. Theyare usually rounder and larger than males. I’m glad the idea worked for your guys!

A few ? on fbt Well she finally ate i coached her up on the land side i just have a question she kinda looked like she was gagging with a little mucus or something in the corner of her mouth is that something that is normal this was before she ate but there is nothing in the tank that she could have gotten stuck in her throat no small rocks or anything like that she did eat a couple pin heads after she did the gagging thing so I’m hoping she is just plump and not bloated she looks healthy just kinda has me a little worried. Ive also decided to go ahead and get a 20 gallon tank in the next few weeks i like seeing them all together and how different each one is so Ive decided to keep them together in a larger tank now ill have two 10 gallons to use just have to decide what kind of cuties i can put in those. Thanks again for all the help I’m new at this you can read tons and tons on the Internet but seems like you always get some conflicting advice on what to do and not to do I’m so glad i happened to find this forum it has allot of great advice!!!!

A few ? on fbt Well, the mucus explains it all! She was shedding! Or, it could still be a he. They blow themselves up a little to loosen their skin and then most of them eat it. That explains why she or he was hiding and why he or she wouldn’t eat. Give it a few more days and it’ll be back to normal. Whatever normal is to that one.
I’m glad you decided on the 20 gallon. I have a 56 gallon and love to watch them interact. They definitely have personalities! Good luck and don’t be afraid to ask or tell us more about your guys and gals!
