 Coconut fiber question

I have researched this topic but still want to question this before I go and make changes.

I bought coconut husk with the intention I was getting what I needed for these 2 toads. I got it at Petsmart and the package said it is ok to use with toads.

Many folks I have read prefer coconut fiber. My impression is that coconut fiber is more fine than husk, more soil like. Is this correct? Is this why it is more desired? Not as abbrasive?

I also know that Petco sells the more finer coconut stuff. Can anyone suggest certain brands that work well when used correctly? I do mist the substrate daily and have not noticed any mold, stink, or anything abnormal since I have started using the husk, about 1.5 weeks ago. I would agree this is not as fine as soil or the backyard dirt I was using.

Thanks for the input.

 Coconut fiber question

the Zoomed Eco Earth Link
and Eco Earth LOOSE cocount fiber substrateLink these can found at petco or petsmart.

and Exo Terra coconut husk fiber plantation soil Link
and I usually mix those (not required) with this compressed coconut husk substrate Link
and those (for decoration and happiness of animals) CAN have A light layer of forest moss over it Link these can all be found at petco and petsmart
Follow directions of compressed substrates (brick shaped) to make them expand
Good Luck!

 Coconut fiber question

Would coconut fibre and/or the forest moss be good for semi-aquatic terrarium setups?

 Coconut fiber question

OK, on the plants--I have done some reading from past threads and I am leading towards fake plants because they would be easier to care for.

Does it matter how the fake plants feel? What should I look for when getting fake plants to put in this 20 gal. long aquarium with the 2 toads?

Thanks for the advice.

Softer is better. And forget going to a pet shop and paying ten bucks each. You can usually find good ones at dollar stores.
Also, try to find ones that give overhead cover but don’t take up much surface space. Something that grows straight up and then widens once it’s in the air, instead of just a whole big mess of ground-level leaves that takes up hopping space.
