Mosquitos in FBT tank?! Yesterday I was getting ready to clean out the toad tank and noticed what might have been mosquito larvae living in the water in the filter! I took a good look at the water in the tank and saw little, tiny whitish-colored dots MOVING around... I freaked out and did a major tank cleaning and washed and scrubbed everything in hot water. It looks great now.
BUT... what can I do to prevent this from happening again? Other than cleaning the tank often, is there anything else i can do to prevent mosquitoes from infesting the tank? Thanks.

Mosquitos in FBT tank?! Mosquito larvae are brown no white involved in their growing. What you are describing sounds a lot like what other people including myself have found in their tank. Nothing to worry about. Some people have said that it means you have a good balance of water and that you might see other creatures in the tank. Don’t worry if you see them again and it’s ok if you cleaned them out.

Mosquitos in FBT tank?! Well, I saw the white things in addition to seeing dark, tiny "lines" kind of moving in the filter water. Maybe it was nothing, but I’ve seen mosquito larvae before and these looked similar. Anyway, I’m glad those other things in the tank weren’t necessarily anything to worry about.

Mosquitos in FBT tank?! I still wouldn’t worry. Fbts eat pretty much anything that moves so maybe they’d eat them too. I can’t imagine how a mosquito would get into your tank unless you left it open for a while. I did and had a couple of flies in the tank and the FBT went crazy trying to catch them since I trapped them in the tank. They got them and readily ate them.

Mosquitos in FBT tank?! They are probably planaria-a non parasite flatworm. I had them in my newt tank and did a total water change and cleaned everything and they are now gone. Make sure you remove all uneaten food/waste and that should eliminate them
