Being young and not understanding of the frog, i put it in the tub so it could have water. then i went to my local pet store, and the shock of the storekeeper when i told him i put it in the tub was amazing. So for the first few months i kept it in a little plastic thing with no bedding, i know, also a big mistake. but then for the last few years i’ve been keeping it in a 30 gallon tank, and a little water thing in the middle, big enough for him to lay down in. his diet has consisted mainly of crickets and (super?) meal worms, but for the last year and a half i stopped feeding crickets, becasue every time i would, the cage would get mites. and changing the dirt once a week was a serious pain. i change the dirt every three months, and its bagged dirt from my store. I have the heat lamp on all day and i turn it off at night so i can sleep I know my frog is going to get older and die, but i have read things that frogs can live up to 20 years, the only problem is, i don’t know how old he was when i caught him. lately, he hasn’t been eating very much. maybe one worm every 5 days. compared to his 5 every other day. and last weekend i woke up and he was lying in his back in his water thing, i thoght forsure he was dead, but alas, he breathed and i immidiatly turned him over. im almost certain that his back legs dont work anymore, and he is constantly bloated. Sorry i dont have anymore information about the frog, althought when i described it to my storekeeper, he told me it was a bullfrog. So, i ask you my fellow frog lovers, what should i do? and if the option is the worst one available, how should i do it. |
