My toad
So I have a rescued toad. He escaped from a nearby forest at my friend’s home, and he decided to stroll the town... He was in someone’s grass, and the man was mowing his lawn and listening to his IPOD, when my friend and I noticed a small toad hopping for his life while the mower chased him. We were screaming at the guy to stop but he couldn’t hear us because of his music! I jumped infront of him and scooped up the small toad. He’s been with me for about maybe 2 weeks now. I’m not sure how to sex him yet, but I named him "DaVinci" He is about 6 cm in lenght, i’m not sure of what kind he is i’m guessing an american forest toad. He looks like one A LOT! I have 2 leopard geckos already, so I’ve been feeding him crickets and meal worms. He eats well. He loves worms! I’ve also rotted some fruit in a bin and I’ve been giving him fruit flies. He enjoys them but not as much as worms. He doesn’t eat dead insects, only live. He used to live in a 5 gallon tank, now he lives in a 15 gallon tank. He has a light, a swimming bowl (about 2-3 cm deep) he enjoys sitting around in it, leaves all over the place, a house, big plastic rocks with a hole at the back of it for shelter, he also has a small tree which he never really uses but it’s a nice decoration to his "forest" theme. Does anyone know what I could add to his tank, or what he needs? Also how to sex him and what kind of toad he is. I’m not planning on letting him back outside, because he’s become very domestic and loves his big tank already too much. I’m planning on rescuing a few more of these toads to keep DaVinci company.

it could be a cane toad. the cane toad and american toad look very similar but the cane toad gets much larger and tellin sex s much more difficult. if you want more info. on the cane toad or american, you can go to the top of the page and look for care sheets on the cane or american toad in the care sheets it should tell how to tell the diffrence on male and female for both species and beding and things like that. hope i was some help!!! -Kae |

Here she is so much bigger :) She’s grown so much! I had her in a 5 gallon and I moved her to a 15 gallon. I’m planning on moving her into a 20 or 25 eventually if she gets any bigger!
