 Permanant Outdoor Housing For My 4 Great Plains Toads

Hi! I recently purchased four Great Plains Toads and would like to build an outside housing structure to use as a permanent home for them. I figure it should be fully wired with a deep substrate on the bottom, but HOW deep? Would a house 4 x 4 ft. be large enough? I live in the Sacramento area.

Will you have a bottom to your enclosure? If not then I would sink the wire deep into the ground maybe a foot deep. The size sounds great, plenty of room for them to roam.
