Cloudy Water, Help? I just got a new filter for my fire bellied toad’s tank, and the water I put in it became cloudy (the cloudy-ness is probaby because of the rocks I put in). Should I wait for a few days for the water to clear up? I have some algae and murky water solutions, but they are for fish. Is it ok to use it for the toads’s water?

Cloudy Water, Help? If you didn’t rinse out your media bag then you will experience that cloud with a new filter. You should always rinse those out, it is carbon particles and dust that is floating around. Eventually it will clear up, but I don’t know what effects it will have on your frogs. I doubt it is dangerousm, just wait a day for it to clear up. You should rinse anything you plan to put in your frog’s tank to prevent that. I wouldn’t treat the water with fish medications except to remove chlorines and hard metals.

Cloudy Water, Help? I’ve never really had a filter before, so i didn’t know you would have to rinse it. thanks! But, is fish medications harmful to the toads? I want to use a little, just in case.

Cloudy Water, Help? Depends what chemicals it uses. The medication to get rid of cloudy water is in the event of a bacteria bloom. This is not what has happened to your tank so adding that will do nothing to help with the cloudy water.
