Hey everybody! this is Toadsrule.

hey ppl! i made a new account lol. anywhoo, i don’t know how many of you know that my toad,Cleo has died :(. i was thinking of getting a new pet. like maybe a leopard gecko and i was curious, what do they eat? and r they an aquatic or desert species? just trying to learn more about them. thnx - IceGlow

Well, you should go over to the gecko forum for that... but honestly, you had a nice-looking toad there, and you kept it successfully for some time... I think it may have succumbed to some sort of bacterial infection, but sometimes that happens for some reason or another, toads (and most amphibians) are delicate creatures and sometimes if you make the slightest mistake in terms of temperature, water quality, substrate cleanliness, or what have you, problems like that can develop, and let’s just say that preventing is far easier than curing them... but in my opinion toads are extrmely charming creatures so are well worth the extra effort! So please, I suggest that you don’t give up on keeping toads, try keeping another one but be very careful about the factors I mentioned.

thank you :) oh i could never give up on wanting toads! i love all animals! but i think rite now i shouldn’t get another toad cuz it would remind me too much of cleo and i’m just not ready for another toad :/

Well, I have also lost a few pets at times in the past for one reason or another, sometimes if it was something unusual or a real favorite I became very upset, but when things like that happened, I knew that I had made some mistakes and wanted another chance to get it right, and learn more about how to keep the animals happy... so I usually tried to obtain another pet just like the original one, and doing so helped me to get over the loss, because after a while the new pet, being so similar to the original one, seemed like it was just like it, and so actually helped me to get over the loss!

So, try keeping some other toads, they really are hardy as long as you make sure to keep the water and substrate clean at all times. Also, they seem to like to socialize with their own kind, so I would recommend getting at least 2 of them.
