 KEEPING WILD CAUGHT TOADS

i want to hear you guys position on this. I think toads that get used to humans are okay..... I think breeding wild caught toads and keeping the tads as captive breds is better than getting all wild caught toads because it can be very stressful. But what do you think?

i personally think that it is perfectly fine! i actually just went out and caught a baby cane toad ( i live in hawaii) and he ate out of my hand right after i caught him!!!!!!!!!!!! it was sooo cool so i decided i would put him in my 10 gallon tank for now and get him a bigger one when he gets biger :)

I personally disagree, I think what is in the wild should stay in the wild. Though it’s only my opinion and shouldn’t effect others opinion. I’ve had wild caught things many years ago when I was much younger but now since I’ve grown older, I just relized It’s not right to take something that has been living it’s life in a open environment to be tookin out and put in a cage where it doesn’t have room to explore.

Just my opinion like I said. The only thing I’d ever get out of the wild are tadpoles, as I have around 15+ Leopard tadpoles, and 2 Salamanders, and 1 yellow spotted Salamander Tadpole that just turned into a salamander last night and absorbed its gills.

Cheers, Cody.

you do very much have a point there cody but i think that it is very bad to keep a wild animal that is already an adult but i think that it is okay if it is a baby toad.

personally i think if you see a toad or frog in the wild leave it alone.. they have the whole world to explore why should you take the away and make them live in a small enclosure.... if they are captive bred or bought from a breeder or dare i say pet shop. thats another story and in my opinion they should have the biggest an most realistic tank you can get them. i have toads and i spoil them rotten but i wouldnt take one from the wild. its just not fair and if you chose to take them out ! DO NOT put them back unless is the exact spot you took them from.. there are far to make deceases out there killing off populations of amphibians! we dont need to introduce ones to areas where they were not previously infected!

If it’s a toadlet go ahead, but don’t remove an adult from the wild. The survival rate is low enough so if an adult made it that far leave them to increase the population.

Agreed with Kueluck. Frogs all together aren’t doing so great right now. The extreme record breaking heat that has been going on, along with multiple other factors.. adults shouldn’t be tookin out of the wild. If I was to take something, it would be a tadpole or a newly morphed froglet.

Cheers, Cody.
