What toad to get!!!!!!!!!!!! land toads are pretty easy too. if your petstore cells any european green toads, their pretty tough. when i was little i had one. it was my first toad, and it put up a great deal with my "beginnerness", i mean he lived for over 6 years.

What toad to get!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely get a Bufo (terrestrial toad)! I keep several! Among them, 2 Northern Pygmy toads, Bing and Butthead, 2 Southern toads, Lynard & Skynard, and 1 fat lazy Indonesian toad, Jabba. You need a 10gal tank, substrate, (anything from Eco Earth to potting soil) a mesh top, a water dish (cuz they like to sit in there). Depending on where you live you may need some sort of heating device, either lights or a UTH. They’re cute and funny. They get to know their owners, they beg for food, and unlike my Pacific Tree Frogs don’t really croak too loud.reako45 reako45

anything you can find that is native to your area will be easier for you to duplicate the living conditions.about the potting soil, you can’t just use any potting soil, many have fertilizers that will poison your frog, and others contain styrofoam or perlite and if swallowed this will also kill your frogs. and the perlite can cause lacerations.

What toad to get!!!!!!!!!!!! i personally wouldnt use a heat lamp as they will dry out the air quicker and will dry out the toads, if you have to have heating i suggest a UTH instead of a heat lamp. this way you wont have to mist it as much either!Scott15,

What toad to get!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I forgot,--- another great reason to get a Bufo is what I call the "feeding follies". Everytime I feed my little guys, it’s like watching an Animal Planet comedy show. Spring must be on the way, cuz today I caught a fat waterbug and tossed it to my fat Pygmy toad, Bing, who was sitting atop his little half log house. As soon as did bug touched the substrate of his tank, Bing dove head first off the log house, gulped the bug and hit the ground at the same time. It’s not the first time he’s acted like a crash test dummy for food!reako45

What toad to get!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would consider a Fire Bellied Toad! They are pretty active, cheap and very hardy. If you like hers some good websites 1.ABOUT.com has nice info one them also my favorite is 2. FROGLAND.com they have like every pet frog under the sun!!!! Thats were i get most of my info! My fbt(Fire bellied Toad) is named IHOP i keep him in a 10 gallon only cause i wnat a nice setup for the future I might want more. Thes are semi-aquatic so they need haif water and half land. I have that! I even thru in some mollies in the water witrha store bought filter and live plants it will probley only cost you 20-30 dollars in cluding you frog that ranges from 7-10 dollars at most! My land has an layer of gravel and rocks than an other layer of gravel than live moss. My divider for tyhe water and land is bricks only cause its cheap and crickets show better on a brick so thats IHOPs feeding station. THey eat crikets, moths, and wax-morms. Mostly crikets! Never mealworms it could KILL they have an exoskeliton that very hard for these 2 inch frogs! These frogs are semi toxic! thats why they are called Fire BEKKied toads as in they have a bright orange and black tummy! That might leave a rash on you if u dont wash yor habds after cleanibg - toaching aor handleing your toad! This is very RARe thogh. I forget every once and a why’ll and i have never gotton a rash. They are very toxic to other frogs. On firebellied toad killed a frog 5xs its size just from its toxic skin within 15 minites. Belive me if my frog was so toziec it was a frog i couldnt handle i would not recamed it to u! Good Luck and rememver I am not the only person or refrence so search the net. I am not an expert. i have only owned one and i have been on at least 50 frog and reptial sites so i prety much know how to care but just inb case if you deside on a Fire bellied toad you should searchthe net an ask local pet places and bredders Kate

What toad to get!!!!!!!!!!!! yes you can have land setup with a big water bowl thats what i have, your not really ment to handle your toads unless you really need to and then you should have wet hands or gloves on as the oils in your skin can burn the toads skin, but thats very usefuly info in the previous post!!
