 New to Fire belly toads

Well i just took in a fire belly toad cuz one we ordered came to us without a front foot. So i was wondering if one toad really needs a 10 gallon(read it in a book) or if it could stay in a 13x8 inch or round 10 inch kritter keper. also what should i use as a substrate? is the bed a beast stuff ok? sorry for all the questions i was planning on taking care of them at work as in feeding but i wasnt planning on actually bringing one home
