as far as i understand box turtle care, their like tortoises.
glass aquariums are not very good for them, since it could cause stress.
And that substrate is far to dry.

Boxies are usually on bed-a-beast, peat moss, or soil of somesort.
Many people use play bark, and soak it every now and then for humidity.

you will find ALL boxie caresheets on well known websites will say Glass tanks not reccomended.

He’s not a western box turtle either, hes a 3 toed box turtle which is a subspecies off the eastern box turtle. The enclosure looks small for the box turtle, and you do want to have solid or something that retains humidity since they can get RI in dry environments. your guy looks dry and looks like it can use some humidity. If you google 3 toed box turtle care sheet you will find everything you need. If you want me to go over some of the major things i can. I’ve had my share of box turtles, from ornates (western box turtles) to eastern box turtles, 3 toed were always my favorite and i use to have a breeding group.

heat rocks are bad and can burn ur turtle.u only need a spot lamp or incandecent bulb or ceramic heater.

heat pads and heat rocks are very bad.
They can easily burn a turtle or tortoise without you knowing anything!

I know a boxie is different to a hermanns tortoise, but my friend samo had her tortoise in a viv like that, and that tortoise looked happy and simple, but when the vet got a looking the tortoise was highly depressed and always pacing which may look like a "acitve" animal when really its a "sad" animal trying to figure out what glass is.

you can just go to petco and buy a LARGE walkin water bowl for very cheap.

Dont defend yourself as a owner, just do whats right for your turtle

I know that there illegal to keep but when did Eastern Box Turtles become illegal to keep what year? reason i ask is because i know some body that has had one for 24 years.

Check this out. In Tennessee it is Illegal to own ANY turtle or tortoise whatsoever in any shape, form or fashion. It is punishable by confiscation, up to 18 months in jail, and a $7,000 fine for each animal. That is what I was told by a TWRA officer when I called and asked if I could bring my turtles to tennessee.
These people are serious.....and seriously uneducated!

yeah that enclosure is way wrong. i use Eco earth for my boxie. you should read a few care sheets to ensure your turtles is taken care of properly. like stated above, glass is a big no no.

this is what mine was before she got bigger.
