 ---->PUFFY RUSSIAN TORTOISE-HELP <-------

I am a new russian tortoise owner(2 days exactly) Here is some history--- past owner ---had tortoise in a 20gal tank that was indoors it contained pine shavings, also fed her ONLY ice berg lettuce, heat lamp was occasionally used and I dont think there was a UVB light. Past owner states age is 3 1/2yrs. Currently I keep her in an outdoor enclosure (w/the works) food is greatly varied (no fruits) My question is why is my tortoise so PUFFY on the arms, legs, eyes and neck area?

bloated
over fed
wrong care
bad husbandry
bad diet

it could be a number of things but my guess is if it was just fed iceberg lettuce, then cuz this food does not contain anything good, nor filling the tortoise would possibly have been eating loads of the lettuce just to get a full stomach which could lead to the puffy-like formations or your tortoise is very sick.

FIND a REPTILE specialist vet who can help you out.

If your from the UK and dont mind travelling go to www.forums.shelledwarriors.co.uk and ask for a vet in your area, they know alot of great reptile vets.
